It seems only appropriate that a blogger who encourages others to get out there in the world and share God’s love with others does exactly that.
This past Saturday, we met in our church parking lot to pre-build parts of these homes. I remained sore until Wednesday of this week from bending with a hammer and nails to put the walls together. Every time I have gone to sit down or stand up, I have been reminded to pray for the people who will be receiving these homes.
Our girls helped out too. They put together crafts and goodie bags for the encouragement team that our oldest will be part of while we are there. They both took a few swings of the hammer, but the oldest really enjoyed it toward the end of our work day.
And even though we are the ones leaving on the trip, You can be a part!
Pray! Intercede on our behalf!
To be honest none of us are excited about the fact that it is supposed to rain. We could potentially be building and sleeping in tents during a downpour, yet while that inconvenience is small, it could have a big affect on attitudes, mine included.
Don’t pray that it would not rain because we all know how much it is needed out here in the west. No, the heavens need to break open on our side of the country. But, please pray that the work would be able to be completed safely and that our hearts and attitudes are in the right place.
Pray for the families receiving these homes and all that will witness them being built. Pray that they would see the love of God in a tangible way and for opportunities to share with them about a God who loves them.
Finally, pray for us. While we are going to Mexico to be the hands and feet of Jesus, we know that the real work will be done in us. Pray for sensitivity to the spirit that we would follow His direction. Pray for boldness to step out and attempt to communicate despite potential language barriers. Pray that we also walk away changed.
Oh, and I’m sure my mom would like me to ask you to pray for our safety. She’s not exactly excited that we are taking her grand-babies to Mexico.
Thanks for being a part of our Mexico journey and this missional opportunity.
Your prayers are coveted and appreciated as I know more is accomplished through prayer than through human hands. Anytime you think of us this weekend, I’d love it if you left a prayer in the comment box!
I’m looking forward to sharing with you again in about a week all that God did in us and through us during our time there.
